REEL NEWS DAILY

RED CARPET CRASH

"In Agata Trzebuchowska’s wet dream of a fairytale, a young man has a perverse cumming of age in his grandmother’s woodland home."
PROJECTED FIGURINES

"An interesting new voice in filmmaking.“
"An uncomfortable, transgressive story, but well and carefully told, and never predictable."
FAR OUT

"A dangerously alluring and thought-provoking debut feature."
B SIDES AND BADLANDS

"A delicate orchestration of uneasy suspense and real-world horror."
MATTHEW ST. CLAIR

"Beautifully haunting and deeply unsettling, Sick is a phenomenal feature-length directorial debut. Sick is thought-provoking and challenges the audience to sit with the intensity of each scene. The horror is crafted visually and intimately. It’s always fun to champion original horror stories, but Sick is worth praising for its uniqueness and unapologetic ambitiousness."

"...a very tense, erotic slow burner. kinda my pet movie of this fantastic fest and one of the best films I’ve seen this year."

Synopsis

Things spiral out of control in more ways than one when two siblings are tasked with caring for their ailing grandmother.

During the summer holidays, Maks (16) and his older sister Emma (19) are sent to the Polish countryside to care for their ailing grandmother. Trapped together in the heavy, stifling isolation of the summer heat, the siblings’ bond begins to shift into something unsettling and difficult to define. As tensions rise and boundaries begin to blur, their grandmother’s frail presence takes on an increasingly disturbing quality, turning a once-idyllic summer into a haunting passage into adulthood.
