The lead actor of SANCTUARY (Freistatt, 2015) and this year’s Berlinale-Shooting-Star Louis Hofmann is set to appear in the brand new Netflix mystery series Dark.

A TV show –  the first ever German language Netflix Original project with intriguing content label ‘Not For Kids’ – is set in a German town in present day where two young children vanishes. Missing kids sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers, but their search for a culprit unearths a small town’s sins and secrets. Netflix has set the launch date for December the 1st.

Nevertheless, intense and chills-bringing SANCTUARY can be marked as one of the first ‘serious’ cinema titles in Hofmann’s filmography. The young actor then played a rebellious fourteen-year-old Wolfgang who gets sent to Freistatt, a foster home for difficult children. In an era of freedom, sexual revolution and Rolling Stones he has to face brutal (and now beyond understanding) education methods and resist the system of violence.
