Pluto Film is a world sales and festival distribution company devoted to bringing quality feature films to the international market and worldwide audiences. In focus are arthouse and cross-over films, works by emerging talents, and international as well as German titles.

Pluto Film takes an innovative and individual approach to distribution combining new and old windows with emphasis on film festival exploitation. 10 titles are added to the line-up per year. Pluto Film’s objective is to make films circulate and to be seen across the world and distribution channels.

We are a small team with good knowledge of the market. Each of us brings an inside of a different part of the business as well as a strong international network of contacts built over the years.

Manola studied Film History, Art and Communication in Rome and Berlin and got the master degree MEGA Plus at the Media Business School in Ronda (Spain) in 2013. In 2008 she moved to Berlin and started to work at Delphi Filmverleih GmbH, where she was in charge of international acquisitions. Later she worked as acquisition consultant for Italian distributors like Academy Two and Nomad Film. Before joining Pluto in January 2019, she worked in sales companies like Global Screen, Fortissimo and Media Luna.

Daniela Cölle received her MA and PhD in Film Theory and Critique from the Film and Television Faculty (Academy of Performing Arts) in Bratislava (SK). After her studies, she worked as a film curator and journalist, as project manager for the European Cultural Society, managing e-learning programs on film and worked on several independent film productions. Subsequently, she was CEO of the distribution company Filmtopia (2012-2014) and EURIMAGE Representative Deputy for Slovak Republic (2014-2016). She is a co-organizer and artistic director of the Film Festival 4 Elements (SK) since 2010 and was its executive director until 2017. In 2016 she joined Pluto Film.

Ismene studied film at the New York College in Athens. After obtaining her MA in Arts from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she worked as a cultural journalist and was appointed Chief Editor of film content at Exostis Press between 2013 – 2016. After she arrived to Berlin, Ismene worked as a filmmaker and script editor for a few internationally acclaimed films, while organising networking industry events in collaboration with the Greek Embassy. She is a Reykjavik Talent Lab alumni and has participated in training programs such as the MFI Script to Film lab and the Baltic Short Pitching Forum, among others.

Torsten Frehse

Torsten Frehse

Founder & CEO

In 1994, Torsten Frehse was the co-founder and manager of Berlin’s Lichtblick Kino as well as co-owner of the city’s Central Kino from 2006 to 2013. In 1997, he founded the distribution company Neue Visionen Filmverleih and serves as its managing director and shareholder. Neue Visionen has since become one of the leading German arthouse distributors and has received the Distributor Award as Best Film Distributor on six occasions since its launching. In 2005, he founded and established Good Movies as a joint project by eight independent film distributors to create a quality DVD label. Torsten Frehse is also a board member of the AG Verleih (Association of Independent Film Distributors).

Heino Deckert

Founder & CEO

Heino Deckert is one of the producers of The Queen of Spades and the managing director of Ma.ja.de. Filmproduktions, based in Leipzig and Berlin, as well as running Deckert Distribution. He has produced more than 90 award-winning documentaries with filmmakers like Thomas Heise and Viktor Kossakowsky. The films have been premiered at renowned international Festivals such as Berlinale, Venice, Rotterdam, Visions du Réel in Nyon, Cinema du Réel in Paris, IDFA Amsterdam and DOK Leipzig. He lectures on production and distribution of documentaries at different international training programmes and is group leader at Eurodoc.
